August relapse Wednesday, then cool and soggy again

Then comes October. Sideways looks and snarky weather comments return. People don't mean to be that way. Weather folk are just an easy target when Minnesota's seasonal weather fatigue sets in. And the forecast looks grumpy, cool, and damp the next 10 days.

Except for Wednesday. Southern Minnesota rides the northern fringes of a summerlike air mass Wednesday. From heat to AC in 12 hours?

Expect some bank thermometers s to flash 80-degrees Wednesday afternoon in Redwood Falls and other southwestern Minnesota towns.
Severe risk Wednesday
It's rare for October. The ingredients are coming together for another severe weather outbreak across the Upper Midwest. This one will likely focus on Wisconsin and eastern Iowa.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Storm Prediction Center has upgraded the risk level to enhanced over Wisconsin Wednesday.
Southeastern Minnesota is also in the slight risk zone Wednesday.
Cool air returns
Northwest flow returns Thursday across the Upper Midwest. Temperatures retreat to the 50s again this week. Milder air makes comeback early next week. But with a rainy price. Rain chances arrive Friday and again next Sunday through Tuesday.
Right now, I don't see any frost in sight for the Twin Cities for the next one to two weeks.
