Cooling trend; showers and thunderstorms at times this week
The high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 90 degrees Sunday afternoon.
It was fitting that we had summery weather on the final Sunday of astronomical summer.
Sunday was our 20th day this year with an official high temp of 90 degrees or warmer in the Twin Cities. We average 13 days per year with a high of 90 or warmer in the Twin Cities, according to the Minnesota State Climatology Office.

Temperature trends
Monday high temps will range from 60s in northern Minnesota to 80s in the southeast:
Tuesday highs will be in the 60s in northern and central Minnesota, with 70s south:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 70s Tuesday, followed by around 70 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday. It still looks we could top out in the upper 60s on Friday.
Rain chances
An isolated shower or thundershower is possible in northern and central Minnesota overnight Sunday night.
There will be a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in central and southern Minnesota Monday afternoon, with a good chance of some showers and thunderstorms Monday evening and overnight Monday night.

Hurricane Florence and it's successors, tropical storm Florence/tropical depression Florence, have dumped some record rainfall amounts in North Carolina:
