Another gorgeous day in Minnesota; Florence will track toward East Coast next week

I've enjoyed our recent stretch of gorgeous weather.

Our weather winning streak will continue this weekend.

It’ll be warmer and more humid next week. Twin Cities highs should reach the upper 70s Monday, followed by lower 80s Tuesday through Friday. Dew point temps will rise into the 60s Monday afternoon and stay in the 60s the remainder of the week.

Rain chances

Most of Minnesota will have a rain-free weekend.

Far northwestern Minnesota could see scattered showers and thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening, and the far northwest will also have a shower/thunderstorm chance late Sunday.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms could spread over much of central and northern Minnesota overnight Sunday night.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential rain pattern Sunday afternoon through Monday:

The color chart to the right of the loop refers to the strength of the signal that returns to the radar, not to the amount of rain.

The Twin Cities metro area will have a chance of occasional scattered showers and thunderstorms anytime from Tuesday afternoon into Thursday.

Florence update

Tropical storm Florence was 835 miles southeast of Bermuda this Saturday morning, and it was moving westward.  Florence is expected to regain hurricane strength Saturday night, and it'll probably be a major hurricane as it tracks between Bermuda and the leeward islands on Tuesday. Florence could still be a major hurricane as approaches the southeast coast of the U.S. next Wednesday and Thursday.

Here’s the projected track of Florence over the next five days, from the National Hurricane Center:

According to the National Hurricane Center:

The official hurricane season for the Atlantic Basin (the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico) is from 1 June to 30 November. As seen in the graph above, the peak of the season is from mid-August to late October. However, deadly hurricanes can occur anytime in the hurricane season.

Hurricane Olivia tracks toward Hawaii

Hurricane Olivia is expected to weaken to tropical storm strength as it approaches Hawaii on Tuesday.
