Nice Thanksgiving, pushing 50s Friday and Monday?
There is much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving. Good travel weather for most of this weekend is on the list.
Thermometers push 50 degrees in the Twin Cities and southern and western Minnesota Friday, again Monday. That's a good 15 to 20 degrees warmer than average.
More mild than wild
Overall the next week features mostly quiet weather. Black Friday's rain system is trending further north and may just swipe the Twin Cities. Models are still juggling the notion of snow next Tuesday, but none are going hog wild jet yet. Here's a long look at NOAA's GFS model through next Tuesday. Note the red dashed lines Friday and again Sunday and Monday. That's the mild air invasion pushing north.

Waiting for winter
Meteorological winter (Dec-Feb) begins next Friday December 1st.
November's early cold snap had me optimistic about a real winter this year. The idea of plenty of cold and snow to recreate in is appealing to many of us in Minnesota. That's why some of us live here. I love me some Minnesota summer, but I like to play outside in winter too.
The maps lately suggest winter is in no big hurry. Temperatures now look warmer than average as we move into early December. NOAA's Climate Prediction Center paints a lot of red on the maps into the first week of December.
Going even further out on a weather limb, NOAA's experimental week 3-4 product keeps the mild trend going.
As Judge Smails in Caddyshack would say; "Well, we're waiting!"
