Weather perfection this weekend?

I know. I editorialize above.  Everyone's idea of "perfect" weather is different.

But this weekend's weather may be as close as we ever get to what most Minnesotans perceive as "perfect" weather.

Increasingly balmy southerly breezes blow this weekend. Mostly sunny skies linger overhead. Temperatures soar through the 70s, and approach 80 degrees in the Twin Cities both Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Enjoy the blissful weekend, the weather turns stormier next week.

Stormy next week

Low pressure spins north into Minnesota next week. The system will span widespread showers and thunderstorms. Local downpours and severe weather may be possible. Crank up the Doppler and keep the weather radio handy. The Canadian GEM model brings multiple waves of rain and thunder north next week.

Rain returns

The persistent southerly flow next week delivers our first real shot of humidity and Gulf of Mexico moisture. That should feed some multi-inch rainfalls in the next two weeks.

Hurricane Hunters in D.C.

Hurricane season starts in less than 3 weeks. Many enjoyed checking out the Hurricane Hunter fleet in Washington D.C this week.

Glaciers fading

I remember visiting Glacier National park as a kid. This may be the summer to get out there and see them before they further dwindle.

Drought fades

Yes, there have been catastrophic floods in parts of the Midwest. Overall drought has faded across the USA to the lowest level in years.
