Lower 70s are on tap for southern Minnesota, with 60s for most other locations.

Some spots along the north shore will top out in the upper 50s.

Monday's highs will also be mild for mid October:

Twin Cities area highs cool to the lower 60s on Tuesday, then we'll see 50s Wednesday through Friday.

Thunderstorm chance

A warm front moves through Minnesota this afternoon and evening.

We'll have a chance of showers and thunderstorms this evening and overnight.

A strong or severe thunderstorm will be possible tonight. The Storm Prediction Center of the National Weather Service shows a marginal risk of severe weather for parts of eastern Minnesota and much of Wisconsin this evening and overnight:

Marginal risk means that an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible. The main severe weather risk would be large hail.

Fall colors

This may be a great day for fall color viewing over central and southern Minnesota:

The latest Minnesota fall color report from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources shows that parts of central and southern Minnesota are showing great fall colors right now:
