Swamped: Another 1 inch of rain by Sunday
And wet weather hits just keep on comin'.

Rain wave No. 1 rolls through this evening as the troubled warm front lifts north across Minnesota once again. Wave No. 2 arrives Saturday night with the potential for another inch, and some marginally severe storms.
Not what the weather doctor ordered for seriously flood-ravaged communities in southern Minnesota.

Next low-pressure wave Saturday night
Our latest 1-2 rainfall punch arrives as a warm front-cold front combo tonight and Saturday night. Low pressure in the Dakotas marches east, with more rain in tow.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's NAM 4 km model captures the essence of the rainfall. Tonight's warm front-driven rain band arcs northward through Minnesota. Saturday's cold frontal rain band sweeps east Saturday.
Another inch of rain
Some towns in Minnesota pick up another inch of rain by Sunday morning. There may be some locally higher totals. A drying trend mercifully arrives next week.
The bad news? NOAA's rainfall guidance through Sunday brings another inch across parts of Minnesota. That means flood swollen lakes and rivers will fall more slowly.
The good news? At least this progressive system is moving along, and that should limit serious multi-inch totals. That means we probably won't see dramatic rises beyond what's already happening out there.
Forecast: Several dry days next week?
This may be the best news I've seen on the maps in weeks. The upper air pattern over North America shifts to a more zonal (west to east) flow next week. This should bring a much drier pattern to the Upper Midwest.
Temperatures start cool next week with high in the low 60s Sunday through Tuesday. Warmer temperatures arrive by late week pushing highs into the upper 60s, to near 70 degrees by next weekend.
If the pattern verifies the string of dry, sunny days could be just what the doctor ordered for soggy soils, and for the Ryder Cup in Chaska next weekend.
Many Minnesotans are hoping for a sting of dry days next week. The latest maps suggest that's a good possibility.
