Cooler today, snow northeast

After three days in the 40s, our Twin Cities high temp will take a dip today. It will be closer to normal.  We are expecting highs in the 30s over southern Minnesota, with 20s over the north:

Winds coming in off of Lake Superior will enhance snowfall amounts over the arrowhead region of northeastern Minnesota today:

Some of the higher elevations along the shore could see 3 inches or more of snow by mid-afternoon.

In the Twin Cities, we expect a cloud-sun mix today, with a passing flurry possible. Far southwestern Minnesota will see a rain-snow mix this morning.

Tuesday flakes?

Looking ahead, snow will be possible Tuesday over Minnesota and Wisconsin:

It could be a mix of rain and snow on Tuesday for the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota.

Soil moisture is good

Our warm and wet fall allowed soil moisture to recharge nicely across Minnesota.  Only 5.74 percent of Minnesota is classified as abnormally dry.  Last year at this time, 98.23 percent of Minnesota was abnormally dry:

Frost depths are very shallow right now, so our spring green up may be earlier than normal this year.

I don't think many people would complain about that!
