Welcome warm front ahead, Friday snow grazes metro?

After one more sub-zero night, a welcome warm front pushes into Minnesota Thursday.

Temperatures are on the rebound the next few days, and high may crack the thawing point by Friday afternoon. After a brief Saturday speed bump, Sunday looks like the mildest day this weekend. The aggressive European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts model is hinting at temps as mild as 40 degrees by next Thursday.

Southeast snow Friday night?

Overall it looks like most of Minnesota may be descending into a snow drought the next couple of weeks. With one exception.

A low pressure system will push snow into southeast Minnesota and Wisconsin Friday and Friday night. A few inches are likely in Rochester and La Crosse, Wis., with as much as half a foot northeast into Eau Claire, Wis., northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

The snow may just graze the metro with a few hours of light snow Friday afternoon and evening. As usual, the metro will be riding the snowy edge of this one. Best chance for an inch or two? The southeast metro. Keep an eye on this if your are planning travel east into Wisconsin along Interstate 94 late Friday.
