The abrupt drop in temperatures that arrived with Thanksgiving is really not that big of a deal unless you've had well above normal temperatures and record highs on Wednesday.

Duluth's high temperature of 52 F on November 21st tied the record set in 2006.

Snowfall was generous in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin on Thursday and Thursday night. Only a few narrow bands of light snow remained in that region late this afternoon.

We'll take moisture in any form when a lot of the state has been very dry the last few months. Unfortunately the severe drought region of southwest Minnesota missed out on precipitation once again.

Breaks in the clouds overnight with decreasing winds, along with the fresh snow cover could result in the coldest night in the season. If skies clear completely temperatures could be subzero over the snow pack in northeast Minnesota and northwest Wisconsin.

Outside the Twin Cities metro heat island temperatures could drop below ten degrees by daybreak on Saturday.

A fast moving weather system will streak across northern Minnesota Saturday night. Another couple of inches of snow may accumulate from Grand Forks to Ely. Looking for some fun in the snow? You'll find it in the Northland on the weekend.

Seasonal temperatures are expected the first part of the work week with a gradual moderation to near 40 F in the Twin Cities by Thursday and Friday.

The weather for the Viking game in Chicago on Sunday looks to be chilly, but not cold. West should be around 10 mph with temperatures in the lower 40s.
