Today’s rain confined to southeast Minnesota

Overnight showers and isolated thundershowers were confined to the southern third of Minnesota. This area of precipitation should drift into Wisconsin this morning. Heavier rains are likely in Iowa and Illinois. Severe storms could pound Illinois and Indiana.

Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures are expected to remain on the cool side with bouts of showers and thundershowers. The best chance for wet weather comes Friday night and Saturday night in the south. Northern Minnesota has the best chance for rain on Saturday afternoon and again Memorial Day.

The medium range forecast models suggest that the temperatures into early June favor a jump to above normal. Normal highs are climbing steadily through the 70s.

Summer outlook from the Climate Prediction Center continues the overall trend which favors below normal temperatures.

Thursday is likely to be the driest day in the coming five days. Make the most of it.
