Cool sunshine north, wet day in Rochester
This satellite image from late afternoon shows the dividing line between abundant sunshine enjoyed in northern Minnesota and the dense clouds with rain in southeast Minnesota. In the middle, the Twin Cities dodged the wetness but stayed mostly cloudy. Rochester Airport tallied more than three quarters of an inch of rain today, with temperatures in the middle 50s.
Temperatures, even in the sunshine, did no better than the lower to middle 60s in the north. Gusty winds probably made it feel a little chiller in the shaded areas.
A Freeze Warning has been posted overnight for northeast Minnesota with a Frost Advisory in northwest Wisconsin. Frost can occur with reported temperatures in the middle 30s, taken about five feet above ground level. A freeze means temperatures below 30 degrees for several hours.

Cool temperatures will continue on Thursday with dry conditions. Rain returns, pretty much statewide on Friday. Saturday and Sunday don't look spectacular for a holiday weekend, but we'll take it one day at a time.
Here's the NWS maximum temperature forecast for Sunday, which should be a few degrees milder than Saturday's readings in the sixties. Monday could be warmer still.
Severe thunderstorms to our south has spun-up more than three dozen tornadoes already today.
