April thunder possible next week

NOAA CPC 6-10 day outlook highlights above average temps next week.

April is right around the corner, and warmer weather is scheduled to ride in with the new month. April may also come in loud.

As warm winds blow from the south next week, moisture from the Gulf of Mexico will slide north. It also looks like a potent low pressure system and cold front will move in by late next week. This could be enough to trigger our first severe weather of the season if everything falls in place.

While it's too early to try and pinpoint specific severe weather parameters, the overall pattern looks like we could generate a few thunderstorms next Thursday or Friday. Models that far out can easily move the timing of weather systems a day or so, so stay tuned as we fine tune things next week.

A shot at 70?

Forecast model temperatures show the warm surge next week.

As warm air surges north next week, look for temperatures to push well into the 60s around southern Minnesota. If everything goes right, we could see our first 70 degree reading since September 27th. Let's hope so!
