Update 7pm:

What a wild weather day around the region.

It's going to take some time to sort out just how many tornadoes touched down today. I would say as of now it's at least four.

#1 in South Minneapolis near 35W and Lake Street at around 2 pm. That tornado also likely hit the Minneapolis Convention Center around 2:11pm.

#2 In Cottage Grove at about 2:43pm. That tornado touched down briefly, lifted over Woodbury, then touched down again in Hudson, Marine on St. Croix and Forest doing damage there.

#3 in North Branch. That tonado did damge to the middle school there.

#4 Trained spotters report several touchdowns 3 miles east of Springfield in Brown County between 6:28 and 6:43pm.

There may have been more touchdowns. NWS survey teams will have a better look at things by tomorrow.
