Art Hounds: Beast, Dope Image, Traveling Museum

The hounds have much appreciation for a scorcher of a play about a northern Minnesota family feud, a line of clothing that promotes social justice, and an art road show traveling from town to town.

If photographer and Anoka Ramsey Community College art professor Laura Migliorino had her way, she would follow the Traveling Museum around the region like a Deadhead. The Traveling Museum is a mobile, contemporary art gallery which traverses the state and features the work of Minnesota artists from outside the Twin Cities. Upcoming stops include a visit to "Art by the River" in Mankato, June 21 and 22.

Emcee, spoken word artist and activist Guante is excited about a new line of clothing called "Dope Image," not because he's a fashionista, but because of what the clothes communicate about identity, social justice, and community. "Dope Image" founder Keno Evol will unveil the new line at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis, Friday June 20, from 7 p.m.-9 p.m.

"One hell of a roller coaster ride." That's how St. Paul actor Jane Froiland characterizes Bedlam Theatre's "The Beast," about a land battle in northern Minnesota. At Bedlam's new Lowertown space in St. Paul through June 21.
