Intermedia Arts scores $1 million for ‘Creative CityMaking’

The Kresge Foundation has awarded Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis $1 million to fund a three-year "Creative CityMaking" project in Minneapolis.

The major funding announcement comes at the end of a year long collaboration between Intermedia Arts and the City of Minneapolis, which teamed artists with city planners to engage neighborhoods in thinking about their future. The results of that collaboration are currently on display at Intermedia Arts in an exhibition titled "This is our City!"

Thanks to the Kresge grant, Creative CityMaking will apply lessons from the first year as it further integrates artists into the operations of different City of Minneapolis departments.

The Kresge Foundation said it plans to use what's learned through this partnership to promote city-arts collaborations on a national scale.
