Riverland Community College president named

Kent Hanson Appointed Interim President of Riverland Community College

The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees today appointed Kent Hanson interim president of Riverland Community College. His appointment is effective Aug. 2.

Hanson has served as provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at Northland Community and Technical College since 2003. Prior to Northland, Hanson spent 12 years at Northwest Technical College where he served as radiology program director from 1991-99 and health and human services dean from 1999-2003. In addition, Hanson was an adjunct faculty member at Park University and the University of Minnesota-Crookston.

Hanson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and a Ph.D. in educational leadership from the University of North Dakota, and a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Administration from Central Michigan University.

In recommending Hanson’s appointment, Chancellor Steven Rosenstone said, “Kent Hanson is an experienced, thoughtful and effective leader. His record of success in collaborating with students, faculty, staff and community leaders will serve the college and its campuses in Albert Lea, Austin and Owatonna well. I am confident that Riverland Community College will be in very capable hands.”
