UMN Provost Sullivan chosen as University of Vermont president

This morning, the University of Vermont announced that E. Thomas Sullivan has been selected as its next president. Sullivan was Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at the University of Minnesota until January. He also served as the eighth dean of the University of Minnesota Law School from 1995 to 2002 before returning to full-time research and teaching. He was appointed Vice President and Provost in 2004.
In response to today's news, current University President Eric Kaler and former University President Robert Bruininks issued the following statements:
"I offer my warmest congratulations to Tom Sullivan. He was an exceptional leader at the University of Minnesota and helped me immensely as I transitioned into my role as president." -- Eric W. Kaler, President
"Tom Sullivan was one of my closest advisors and was a key member of my leadership team during my nine years as president. He possesses the vision, skills and personal qualities to take the University of Vermont to a new level of greatness. We are sad to see him leave the University of Minnesota, but send with him our warmest wishes." -- Robert Bruininks, President Emeritus.
