The Department of Education instituted its new “gainful employment” rule this summer.
The purpose of the measure is to ensure students are finding good jobs after they graduate from for-profit schools, and aren’t burdened with too much loan debt.
But as my report today on MPR News shows, an organization that represents almost 2,000 for-profit colleges across the country, four of them based in Minnesota, is suing the federal government in an effort to overturn the rule.
