Some for-profit colleges fighting new gainful employment rule

The Department of Education instituted its new "gainful employment" rule this summer.

The purpose of the measure is to ensure students are finding good jobs after they graduate from for-profit schools, and aren't burdened with too much loan debt.

But as my report today on MPR News shows, an organization that represents almost 2,000 for-profit colleges across the country, four of them based in Minnesota, is suing the federal government in an effort to overturn the rule.
