I love the 70s-era photos that the Minnesota State University Student Association has posted on its Facebook page under the title “Blast from the Past.”
When you’re a student organization with constantly changing leadership, you’ve got to remember your roots — your victories and mistakes.
But above all, you must remember not to repeat the fashion crimes of the past.
(The chops, ‘staches, beards — they all scream “serious political muscle.” And the tanktop on the guy on the left in the bottom photo? Makes university presidents think twice about pulling a fast one.)
Alex Friedrich reports on higher education issues for MPR News. Among the stories he has covered: the fall of the Berlin Wall, aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis, 2003 Moscow suicide bombing and 2004 presidential elections in the Republic of Georgia. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Georgia and a master’s in European political economy from the London School of Economics.
