North Hennepin: We'll finish May summer session

Here's what North Hennepin Community College is telling its students about the possible state shutdown:

Possible State Shutdown - Student Update

June 10, 2011

Dear Students,

You have likely heard about the possibility of a state shutdown and might be wondering about your ability to complete your courses at NHCC this summer and fall.

I want to reassure you that we are optimistic the Minnesota Legislature will reach agreement before June 30th. If this does not happen and a state shutdown occurs, there is a good chance that MnSCU (including North Hennepin) will be exempt and we will continue to offer classes as scheduled.

In short, we expect that you will be able to complete the courses you register for. If there is a disruption or delay in courses due to a shutdown, it will likely be short in duration, and we will have clear steps in place to complete courses once the shutdown ends.

  • Our May summer session is underway, and students will be able to complete the session.

  • New student registration and orientations for fall semester are continuing as scheduled.

  • We plan to begin June and July summer sessions as scheduled.

  • We have a high level of confidence that fall semester classes will begin as scheduled on Aug. 22.

We will communicate clear instructions to students registered in these classes on completion options as needed.

I know that the uncertainty may be unsettling for you. But rest assured that NHCC is committed to the success of its students, and we will do everything possible to enable you to continue your education uninterrupted.

Please watch this web page (http://www.nhcc.edu/Announcements/ShutdownPlan.aspx) for announcements and updates.

Sincerely,

John O'Brien
