Why House higher-ed members were laughing at today's session

So physicians from the University of Minnesota's Academic Heath Center have been telling the House higher ed committee today about the U's heart and psychiatry programs. The doctors hold up a real heart or brain to illustrate the points they're making about research. Quite compelling.

At the end of their spiel, Rep. Tom Rukavina (D-Virginia) asks the doctors:

Now ... a DFL heart is bigger than a Republican heart, isn’t it?

(Laughter)

C'mon, be honest now!

The chuckles die down, and then Rep. Mike Benson (R-Rochester) shoots back:

But the Republican brain is bigger.
