St. Cloud State offers early retirement to 100

Last fall, more than two dozen faculty accepted early retirement offers from St. Cloud State University, and the St. Cloud Times reports that the university has sent more than 100 to non-faculty employees this week.

School officials said they expect about 20 acceptances, and the university should finish the process in about five weeks, the paper reported.

St. Cloud State is trying to cover a projected $14 million budget deficit in the fiscal 2012 year, and is in the process of reorganizing its academic programs.
