Regents to hear how U of M departments will deal with declining funding

This morning U of M provost Tom Sullivan will present a report 18 months in the making.

In 2009, Sullivan asked deans throughout the U to assemble Blue Ribbon Committees made up of faculty, staff, students and partners outside the university.  Their charge: lay out a plan to deal with declining budgets in the next several years.

Sullivan presents a snapshot of those reports to the board of regents this morning.  The result will likely be similar to a report from the U's college of liberal arts that came out late last year, which recommended the college slim down in coming years by focusing more on some programs, and cutting or combining others.

I'll have details on the report later today on Minnesota Public Radio News.
