Get pregnant by a World Cup player, get a lifetime supply of Whoppers

In Russia, nothing sells burgers like a promotion offering free Whoppers to women who agree to get impregnated by soccer players in the World Cup.

Burger King has now apologized for the promotion.

The Associated Press reports the promotion offered a lifetime supply of Whoppers to women who who get “the best football genes” and “ensure the success of the Russian team for generations to come.”

That was too much, even for Russia, where advertising focuses on sexist themes.

“We offer apologies for the announcement we made. It was too offensive,” the company said in a statement posted to Twitter.

Last year Burger King Russia used a rape victim’s likeness in an ad campaign.

      Or Tim Horton’s

      • Wendy’s social media team can be savage…and they usually make me laugh.

        Tim’s? Not so much.

And yet Tim’s is owned by Wendy’s. Or at least part of the same holding company.

When I read the headlines I thought you were speaking of the malted milk balls.

    This obviously is much worse.

Oh goodie. Just what every woman wants. A free Whopper from Burger King. Not only was the ad horrifically insensitive and assault against women, it provides a bigger image of women being totally incapable of the most modest intelligence. I’m OUT on Burger King too! I can’t spend one penny, nickel, dime, peso, or ruble on Burger King products. Back to hot dogs, a bag of peanuts, mom’s apple pie, and baseball.

    Just say “nyet.”

Wait, so is the contest cancelled?
