Singing Mayo docs meet Ellen

In the buttoned-down world of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., Elvis Francois and William Robinson are finally getting the payoff from their years of studying and the rigorous and exhausting pace of being orthopedic surgery residents: they got to meet Ellen.

The two became internet famous last month the way a few visitors at the Rochester facility have: playing the piano and singing.

The two were invited on to Ellen DeGeneres’ show in an episode that airs Tuesday.

Robinson said it’s hard to examine his patients post-surgery because they’d rather watch her show.

“They say laughter is the best medicine, so all of us working together is really good,” Ellen said. “You fix them up and I finish them off. All hospitals should have my show on.”

They played their song after they’d been working for 20 straight hours.
