Maybe you’ve seen the short video that’s starting to race around Twitter about people in Detroit connecting ignored neighborhoods to the internet because big telecom doesn’t want to and the internet is not a luxury.

The long video is better. It’s an inspiring fight for digital justice.

Most of the people who are bringing the internet to people who can’t afford it started out with little tech experience. But a 20-week training course from the non-profit coalition is bringing the potential to change people’s lives.

Detroit has given its residents every reason to give up.
