Shoplifter had job interview so cop bought purloined clothing

A Toronto police officer has proven that sometimes you have to throw the book away.

Niran Jeyanesan was called to the local Walmart last night on a shoplifting complaint.

Store security was holding an 18-year old man who was in the process of stealing a dress shirt, tie, and socks, according to CP24. Apparently, the thief had a job interview.

So Jeyanesan bought the clothing and gave it to him.

“He wanted to go get that job. That was in his mind. I think he truly made a mistake,” he said.

“Police officers do this every day and they don’t get recognized for it. We don’t look for any recognition,” he said.

“This young person has been facing his own difficulties in life and he was looking to straighten out all that by providing for his family and trying to get a job,” Jeyanesan said.
