One of last survivors of USS Arizona dies

Raymond Haerry, 94, of Rhode Island, didn’t do much talking in August on his experience on the USS Arizona the day the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

Haerry, however, had told his story to his son who recounted it for this Navy video.

Haerry, who was one of six still-living survivors of the Arizona, had one piece of advice, however. “Take things as they go along,” he said.

His son announced today his dad has died.

The 1941 attack claimed the lives of 1,177 officers and crewmen.
