Bob CollinsAside from the fact they’re the only team capable of actually winning games in this town, what separates the Minnesota Lynx of the WNBA from almost every man’s team, well, anywhere is they’re not afraid to take a stand and speak out when speaking out is necessary.
That’s what they did on Saturday, wearing warm-up outfits declaring “Change starts with us.” On the back, the names of Philando Castile, killed by a police officer in Falcon Heights; and Alton Sterling, who was shot to death while on the ground by a police officer earlier this week.

“What we do is more than sport,” coach Cheryl Reeve said. “Each one of our players from the African-American community have at least one story of racial profiling.”
The T-shirt worn by the team also carried the emblem of the Dallas Police Department, Reeve said, because support for Black Lives Matter does not mean condoning violence against police officers.
