Blue Jays, Twins fans agree to tie knot

There are many mysteries around Target Field this year, including “Who are the 11-32 Minnesota Twins to lecture the American League MVP on how to play the game?

But this one is pretty puzzling too: How do you sneak in a big “She Said Yes” sign with your girlfriend without her seeing it because you haven’t proposed to her yet?

It happened during Saturday’s game.

[Update 5/24 11:18 a.m.] – I heard today from Jonathan Ng, the soon-to-be bridegroom.

Great blog yesterday on our proposal at the Twins game on Saturday, thanks for the shout-out.

We had lunch at the Butcher & Boar after the game and were treated by the restaurant and several guests, including Brian Dozier, who was dining at the table next to us. He approached us and said that he recognized us from the game. Very classy guy.

Minneapolis will have always have a special place in our hearts. You live in a wonderful city.

But what about the sign?

The sign was made by FASTSIGNS downtown (free of charge!) and delivered to the Twins front office before the game. Glo Westerdahl from the Twins arranged the scoreboard announcement and delivery of the sign to us following the proposal. It’s a well-oiled machine at Target Field. We were treated very well by the people of Minneapolis.

She caved, couldn’t we at least have gotten a player to be named later?

Make an identically-sized sign with some “Go Jays” boilerplate on it. Show her it. Roll it up. Only bring the real one.

See, who says I’m not romantic.

      Romantic or skilled in deception?

Always wonder how many say no when proposing at these events.

How did the Twins come up with $209 for a scoreboard proposal? Why not $208?

Perhaps we need to build a new stadium with greater proposal capacity thus allowing the Twins to increase their proposal revenue. Of course the extra proposal revenue will allow them to become more competitive.

I’d guess a friend arrives separately and brings the sign?

Or, maybe the Twins’ box office staff is extremely cooperative when contacted for help with things like this.
