The deer rescuers of Crookston

It’s always comforting to be reminded that people will drop what they’re doing to help an animal in distress.

Chris Klawitter, a Crookston, Minn., firefighter, and Ross Hier with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources helped a deer that fell through the ice on Red River Lake in Crookston on Wednesday.

KROX said the deer was in the water for four hours, needed three hours to think about things after the rescue, and then took off.
