When amateurs make a symphony

This is a follow-up to today’s post about the cheap shots music education is taking in some Minnesota schools.

And though this didn’t happen in Minnesota, it’s worth considering the power that music holds for people who aren’t musicians, at least primarily musicians.

Take a carpenter, and a writer, and an electrician, and a plumber, and a professor, and a doctor, and engineers, and several dozens others like them and put them together and what do you have? A symphony orchestra.
