A little ‘blasphemy’ on the prairie

MPR has apologized for not bleeping out country songwriter Robbie Fulks’ line in his song, “Where I Fell” in the first run of A Prairie Home Companion on Saturday, the Star Tribune reports.

The song is about an economically depressed area in which the the men are hopeless, the women homeless, and the children don’t use the Lord’s name in vain.

The lyric was “bleeped” during subsequent broadcasts.

Curiously, the Star Tribune’s use of the word “blasphemy” in its story has sparked its own debate on whether it is.
