Who says nothing ever happens at a political debate?

As Minnesota candidates for governor and senator ducked debates earlier in this campaign season, their partisans echoed the party line: Nothing new ever comes from debates.

Which is news in Florida where viewers in the gubernatorial debate got a great chance to size up the character and quality of their would-be leaders last night.

It was seven minutes before Gov. Rick Scott made it to the stage.

I can’t blame Rick Scott. The fan might have blown Charlie Christ’s hair back and he could shake his head for that heroic romance novel cover look. Totally unfair.

    • I heard Stewart Mills is going to use a fan in his next debate.

Isn’t the absence of the Governor by it’s nature “nothing happening?”

Not really. “…viewers in the gubernatorial debate got a great chance to size up the character and quality of their would-be leaders last night.”

      • Sometimes what you learn is not to help either person into office.

        • What I learned is that Rick Scott is a child.

I gotta say that both men were acting like children. It *is* against the rules to have a fan. If someone is going to do something stupid as a reaction to your breaking of the rules, and you continue to break them, then you are doing something stupid, too. Rick Scott over-reacted, but Charlie Christ should have acted like the adult and obeyed the rules and not played a part in preventing the debate from happening.

This is straight out of SNL. Man, they served this to the writers on a silver platter.

Real life is making it hard on The Onion writers to come up with stories.
