Hunt underway for 94-year-old vet’s stolen medals

Odin Stutrud, 94, survived the rigors of the United States Army from 1942 to 1946, including fighting the Japanese in the Aleutian Islands campaign in World War II. It’s some jerks (or jerk) in Wahpeton, North Dakota, who have him steamed.

Someone stole his jacket containing his military medals and decorations at a 2nd lieutenant, he tells Valley News Live.

He was going to wear it into church on Memorial Day weekend, but it was warm so he decided to leave it in the car.

“The minute I opened the door…didn’t see my coat… I thought well, that’s it. And I’m sure that’s true- we won’t see it again,” he says.

“It’s a part of you,” he tells WDAZ. “It hurts like heck, I’ll tell you that.”

“Hopefully we’ll catch some moron wearing it,” the Wahpeton police chief says.

Do that thing you do so well, Internet.
