Who is Paul McCartney?

Smart people are mustering up what outrage they’ve got left in the wake of a trending topic on Twitter, according to Buzz Feed. Young people took to Twitter during last night’s Grammys to wonder who this Paul McCartney guy is.

Reserve some bile for the parents who raised them.

“Congratulations, Yoko Ono,” another tweeter wrote. “Youve won.”

If you don’t know what that means, go ask your parents grandparents.

Ah Twitter, the best way to show your ignorance in 140 characters or less.

I know who Paul McCartney is, though were it not for this article, I’d have no idea that any one had any reason to care about Paul McCartney.

Who’s Twitter? And why are ignorant kids on him? 🙂

I find it a bit refreshing.

Only if the same group of people can identify John Lennon and/or Yoko Ono.

  • Paul

I wonder how many people my age (late 20s) would recognize the name Irving Berlin? Historically just as significant to 20th century popular music as Sir Paul. The nature of pop is rapid consumption and on to the next thing; unfortunately some great works and composers will not fully jump the generation gap(s). Although with the ubiquity of the Beatles and the 2010 catalog reissue campaign this Macca thing is a bit surprising.

I actually enjoyed last night’s Grammys, but for the same reasons I’d get a kick out of your average Saturday night Indian Casino concert: lots of old acts back on stage.

McCartney did a great medley at the end of the show, but his “new” song was embarrassingly trite and boring, much like most of the music he’s written in recent years.

The real show stopper was the Beach Boys and yes, that surprised me. Old f*rts can still hit the high notes (almost), and they seemed to be having fun up there.

Dear Sir Paul – You are 69 years old. Stop pumping your fist in the air like a bro when the sick beats drop. Thanx.

A better trending topic – THAT CHIPOTLE COMMERCIAL.

    John PII – Thanks.

I didn’t watch the Grammys, but Chipotle just gained a customer.
