2nd ballot: Andrew still leading, Hodges gains ground

Minneapolis mayoral candidate Mark Andrew maintained his lead in the race for the DFL endorsement on the second ballot, rising to 42 of the 60 percentage points needed to win.

Betsy Hodges remained in second place. She gained ground after three other candidates were eliminated from consideration, securing about 32 percent of the vote.

Gary Schiff remained in third place with 25 percent, and asked to address the convention. Delegates demanded a hand count, because that would require the rules of the convention to be suspended. That count is underway.

Don Samuels, Jackie Cherryhomes and Jim Thomas were eliminated after failing to clear 10 percent on the first ballot.
