Daily Digest: Trump and the media

Good morning. Welcome to Monday and another work week. Donald Trump is scheduled to be in Minnesota later this week, although there's still no word about whether he will do anything but hold a closed-door fundraiser. He's still dominating the news, so let's check the Digest:

1. Farmers and some other businesses are concerned about the anti-trade stances of the major presidential candidates. Republican U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen, who has said Trump hasn't yet earned his vote, says he opposes the Republican nominee's stance against the Trans-Pacific Partnership. (Star Tribune)

2. Trump still hasn't sealed the deal with some Minnesotans who usually would be solidly behind a Republican nominee for president. That is not to say that they would support Hillary Clinton, though. (Star Tribune)

3. Remember that special session of the Legislature where they were going to pass a tax cut and a bonding bill? Well, it's still not happening. And it's still hung up over funding for the proposed Southwest Light Rail line. At this rate Gov. Dayton and legislative leaders will still be trying to figure out the special session when the regular session begins in January. (MPR News)

4. Trump is threatening to pull the New York Times press credentials to cover his campaign events. He was not happy about this story, which said he has resisted efforts within his campaign to stick to the script and avoid the off the cuff comments that have been causing him trouble. (New York Times)

5. A sailor accused of taking unauthorized photos on a nuclear submarine is using the example of Hillary Clinton's State Department emails in pleading for leniency in sentencing. It's not clear if it will work. (Politico)
