Some in MN GOP hope Trump’s speech upbeat, apologetic
Cleveland -- Minnesota delegates to the GOP convention hope Donald Trump will focus on Republican unity tonight when he takes the stage in Cleveland to accept the Republican presidential nomination.
After days of divisions, said all of Trump’s attention needs to be on the bringing Republicans together, said outgoing Minnesota Republican National Committeeman Chris Tiedeman.
Some Minnesota delegates says a good way to do that would be for Trump to say he’s sorry for his attacks on GOP competitors.
He needs to apologize for the way he treated other Republican candidates during the primary season, said alternate delegate Christopher Rush of Woodbury. Rush, a supporter of Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, acknowledged he probably will not vote for Trump.
Minnesota 6th District Rep. Tom Emmer thinks Trump can win in November and that people view the businessman as authentic, someone who will say what he thinks. He said he hopes Trump will use the biggest speech of his political career to deliver a positive message.
