Hillary Clinton to address teachers in Minneapolis

Hillary Clinton will be in Minneapolis later this month to address the American Federation of Teachers convention.

Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, is scheduled to address more than 3,000 AFT delegates on July 18 at their national convention. That’s the same day that the Republican National Convention opens in Cleveland.

The AFT was the first national labor union to endorse Clinton for the Democratic nomination.

AFT President Randi Weingarten said in a news release that the stakes of the election have been raised significantly since making the endorsement last summer.

“We need a president who will focus on breaking down barriers, not building walls,” Weingarten said. “It will be an honor and a privilege to have Hillary speak to our educators, school support staff, higher education faculty and staff, healthcare professionals and public employees, many of whom worked very hard during the primary season to help elect her.”

The AFT convention runs July 18-21 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
