Daily Digest: Time to vote
Good morning, and welcome to Tuesday. After tonight it will be all over in Wisconsin, at least in terms of the presidential nomination process. We'll have live coverage on the radio starting at 8 tonight. In the meantime let's take a look at the Digest.
1. On the day before the primary Donald Trump was in Superior, rallying a crowd of more than a thousand people. He said to expect a big surprise in the voting. A recent poll shows him trailing Ted Cruz in Wisconsin. (Duluth News Tribune)
2. If Bernie Sanders wins in Wisconsin today it may well be because of independents. He's done well in other states that have open primaries, meaning that you don't have to be a registered Democrat to vote in the Democratic primary. (Politico)
3. Trump has outlined how he would force Mexico to pay for a border wall designed to prevent unauthorized immigration. He would threaten to cut off payments people here make to relatives in Mexico if the Mexican government doesn't make a one-time payment of $5-10 billion to pay for the wall. (Washington Post)
4. Why are so many bills introduced at the Minnesota Capitol that have no chance of passing? One big reason is to try to get voters excited ahead of the election. (MPR News)
5. The short-handed Supreme Court agreed unanimously on a big case Monday. All eight justices said that states can count all residents, not just eligible voters, when they are drawing political boundaries. (New York Times)
