Daily Digest: More Prince than politics

Good morning, and welcome to Friday. Yesterday was a hard day for many of us in Minnesota, and certainly my attention was more on Prince than on politics. He was a towering talent who left behind music that will outlast us all.

So let's take a look at Prince and what he meant to Minnesota.

1. A 911 call from an unidentified male came at 9:43 Thursday reporting that someone was unconscious at Prince's house and recording studio at Paisley Park in Chanhassen. "The person is dead here," the caller said. "...Yes, it's Prince." Soon word spread around the world. (Star Tribune)

2. Prince Rogers Nelson was born in Minneapolis and graduated from Minneapolis

 Central High School. He learned how to play the piano when he was seven years old. He was mysterious and shy. He put First Avenue on the map and in many ways Minneapolis, too. (MPR News)

3. Prince remained a Minnesotan. He was more visible here than ever over the past few years. But he had a long history in his home state. (MPR News)
