Kline wants Miller to replace him in Congress

Retiring Republican U.S. Rep. John Kline is endorsing Darlene Miller as his preferred successor in Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District.

Miller, the CEO of Permac Industries, is among four remaining GOP candidates in the race. The others are David Gerson, John Howe and Jason Lewis.

Kline, who announced last fall that he won’t seek re-election, issued a statement Tuesday saying he was proud to endorse Miller’s candidacy.

“Darlene Miller has the conservative values and real world experience we need in Congress, and she is the candidate that can win in November,” Kline said. “As a manufacturer in Burnsville, Darlene knows what it takes to create jobs in Minnesota’s 2nd District ,and her experience and leadership is needed in Washington.”

Miller responded with her own statement, saying she was honored to recive Kline’s endorsement.

"He has been a champion of conservative ideals, and I am excited to have his support in my race to succeed him in Congress," Miller said.

The presumptive Democratic nominee in CD 2 is Angie Craig.
