Johnson edges ahead on second ballot

Still no endorsement for governor at the Republican state convention in Rochester, but one candidate gained some support on the second ballot.

It takes 60 percent to win the endorsement.

Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson got 38.7 percent in the second round of voting, up 6 points from the first ballot. He is in the lead.

Rob Farnsworth came in last with 1.96 percent of the vote, which isn't enough to put him on the third ballot.

Meanwhile, Sen. Dave Thompson and Marty Seifert are neck-and-neck with about 29 percent of the vote each.

On to the third ballot.
