The governor who signed the bill into law that legalized same-sex marriage says he has not been invited to any weddings of same-sex couples.

“I don’t get invited to a lot of weddings,” Dayton said. “I kind of reached past that point. All of my staff get invited to a wedding every weekend.”

Dayton made the comments during a briefing with reporters.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak is planning to officiate more than three dozen weddings on July 31. Dayton said Rybak invited him to attend that event at Minneapolis city hall, which also features a concert by the Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus. He also said he’s leaving Minnesota Aug. 1 to attend National Governor’s Association meetings.
