Anderson launches first TV ads in the 8th ahead of DFL primary

WASHINGTON - Jeff Anderson is now the second DFL candidate running in Minnesota's 8th Congressional District to begin airing television ads. The former Duluth City Council President's campaign said the ads will run "several hundred times" in the next week on three broadcast stations in Duluth as well as on cable television.
Anderson's campaign would not disclose how much it spent on the ads, which tout his deep family ties to the Iron Range in contrast to the current incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Chip Cravaack. Cravaack was born outside of Minnesota, moved to the state as an adult and last year his family moved to New Hampshire while Cravaack kept a residence in the district.
"We love tourists up here in Northern Minnesota, but not when they represent us in Congress," Anderson says in the ad.
Last week, former state Sen. Tarryl Clark's campaign also began running TV ads ahead of the August 14th DFL primary. Anderson has lagged far behind Clark and former U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan in raising money. Nolan has not yet aired any TV ads in the district.
UPDATE: Nolan's campaign confirms that it also plans to begin airing television ads soon.
