Jesse Ventura: ‘I will never stand for the national anthem again.’

Former Gov. Jesse Ventura held a news conference today to criticize the dismissal of his lawsuit against the Transportation Security Administration for the agency’s pat downs and full body scanners at the airport. Ventura said he was outraged that the court dismissed his case. He called the judge who dismissed the case and the federal courts in general as “cowards.”

“They said they don’t have jurisdiction,” Ventura told reporters outside of the federal courthouse in St. Paul. “Well my question is if the federal courts don’t have jurisdiction over a constitutional question then who the hell does?”

Ventura said he hasn’t talked with his attorney about whether he would appeal his lawsuit but he suggested it wasn’t worth it.

“Why would I appeal it, I want a trial by jury,” Ventura said. “If I appeal it, they’ll get federally paid judges to squash it.”

Ventura, who was flanked by the TV crew that shoots his conspiracy TV show, also said he’s lost his patriotism. He said he’ll never fly commercially again.

“I will not be treated like a criminal,” Ventura said. “In our airports today, we citizens are treated like criminals. We’re guilty until we’re proven innocent.”

Ventura also said he’s going to apply for dual citizenship of Mexico, where he owns a home.

“They know that if I go to court and I’m given a jury I will win,” Ventura said.

He also said he lost his patriotism and would then refer to the U.S. as the “Fascist States of America.” .

“I will never stand for a national anthem again,” Ventura said. “I will turn my back and raise a fist the same way Tommy Smith and John Carlos did in the ’68 Olympics, Jesse Ventura will do that today.”

Ventura then again teased that he could make another run for office.

“The only way that I could change it I guess would be to run for president and win it,” Ventura said. “Is that what it will take?” When asked if he’s running for the White House, Ventura said “I’m thinking about it. That’s all though.”

Ventura said he would never set foot in the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport again.

Ventura also didn’t forget about his past battles with the Minnesota media. He singled out WCCO’s Pat Kessler and told him he’ll never forgive him for the way he treated him and his family. Kessler did a story during Ventura’s time as governor that his son, Tyrell, threw weekend parties at the governor’s residence that caused damage to furniture and fixtures.

Here’s the full audio from the news conference (Note: His criticism with Kessler occurred after the newser):

  • Jim Shapiro

Good fro Jesse. He’s honest, he’s right, and he’s one of the reasons I’m proud to have been a Minnesotan.

  • Jim Shapiro

Good for Jesse. Unlike the vast majority of politicians, he’s honest, he’s right, and he’s one of the reasons I’m proud to be born in Minnesota.

  • Andy

I don’t often agree with Jesse, but I wish he’d stick with this. It’s a tragedy the way we get treated in airports, and he’s right with this lawsuit.

Jesse knows a coward when he smells one, of that you can be certain. If you plan on interviewing him, you best bring your biggest nuts with ya or maybe rent a pair, you’ll need them. So far, I only see 2 people that tell it exactly like it is..Ron Paul and Jesse Ventura.

  • Amy

Although I just can’t that excited anymore about anything the U.S. does, I’m glad there are people like Jesse who still can. If he runs, I might actually have someone to vote for in the next Presidential election!

  • Michael northeast

    Jesse,u legend.he knows what he’s on about

  • Jesse is completely right about this particular issue. It is unconscionable that a District Court can’t process a lawsuit over constitutional rights. The legal issue is that a citizen is restricted from bringing all the facts into consideration if they go directly to the Appeals Court.

This is like the court systems in Cuba or China….when did we stop having freedoms?

If you are concerned about the TSA and its flagrant illegal and abusive tactics, please join . We are working to fight the TSA….

  • David

Jesse Ventura is a pouting brat whose whining in a corner because he didn’t get his way. Hoping the hunger strike is your next protest, Jesse.

  • Inalienable Rights

The audacity of anti-constitutional “judges” who do not legally represent the people of the United States knows no bounds. I hope Ventura announce that he will stand for the recital of the texts of the Declaration of Independence and Bill of Rights. The Declaration should be read at every major public event. We can skip the anthem anyway, since it does not refer to our inalienable rights.

  • People should click on the Listen button and hear Jesse Ventura speak for himself.

We do live in a fascist Orwellian state today. It is a nightmare I would have once believed was not possible. I am also ashamed to be an American.

Our president can kill Americans without a trial or jury, and we pursue wars of mayhem and destruction based on rulings no sounder than those of Hitler’s Nazis.

Ventura is certainly correct when he states that if it is true that terrorists attacked us because they were jealous of our freedoms, then they need no longer be jealous of us because we have lost our freedoms.

  • Ltpro

I find it funny just how serious this issue is for EVERYONE yet most likely CNN and FOX will never run a full story about how on this day one of our constitutional rights was crapped on by a Federal Judge.

People need to serious research the history of cuba and look closely at the scary parallels . Then ask yourself why is it that a country that kills US born citizen’s and has tens of thousand of human rights violations gets to commit all those crime just 95 miles away from us and we do nothing about it yet we’re 7,000 miles away fight a ghost . Sad what we all have allowed this country to do , I hope Jessie fights this or runs with Ron Paul !

  • Gary Thaden

Calm down, Jesse. The court merely said he should have sued in Washington, D. C. instead of Minnesota. Sue in the right place and you might win.

  • Ltpro

Gary Thaden : Do you even understand the serious problem with what they told him ? Can you even see the problem with this all ? Please research VERY closely before you make another pointless comment again !

  • Christopher

As a former veteran myself, what is there for me to be proud of? why is it that, I swore to uphold and defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic but the enemies are NOW domestic, to mean my own government? Why did this government, what is supposed to be my government, wants to kill me? why did they feel they needed to create Fema camps with razor wire facing inside to keep people in and order millions of coffins to kill off the population? since we didn’t heed to history, we are repeating it. Soviet union? cuba? china? we are fast just like these nations. why? so some sniveling, whining criminals think they should decide things and be in control and tell ME what’s best for me? hell no- if this government couldn’t run social security, the mail system, what the hell makes ANYONE think it can run our healthcare? case in point; the government now says financially speaking, it isn’t feasible to run obamacare, the numbers don’t add up. It’s because knuckleheads like Pelosi who said they couldn’t know what was in obamacare until they voted on it? Pelosi, Reid, Obama and every other progressive are traitors to what America was.. not is because America isn’t great anymore.. I too will NOT stand for the national anthem because I don’t have to. I served this once great country for that personal decision..No.. personal right and no one is going to make me

  • Slewatha

FEMA concentration camps? Really? You discredit yourself with such paranoid beliefs. Just because Glenn Beck says something, that does not make it true. Frequently it is just the opposite. I’m a progressive yes, your just a nut.

Starring America’s biggest liar and conspirator

    (even his name is fake)

    by Leslie Davis, Author

    Call for a complimentary book – 612/529-5253

Ventura intros his truTV show by lying about being a Navy SEAL.

He wasn’t a SEAL and his photo on truTV is from the movie Predator.

Facts you should know about Jesse Ventura

    – Ventura lied about being a Navy SEAL on active duty.

    – He lied about being in Vietnam. He told Dennis Anderson of the Minneapolis Star Tribune that “you haven’t hunted until you’ve hunted man”. Ventura was never in combat and he never hunted man.

    – Bribed a candidate on July 17, 1998 so he could run unopposed in the Reform Party and keep his radio show.

Call for a free video of the actual bribe.

    – Bribed Ramsey County Attorney Susan Gaertner to fix the bribery investigation by giving a job to her boyfriend, John Wodele.

    – Endorsed “torture” of people at Highway 55 when 600-law enforcement (the largest police action in Minnesota history) arrested peaceful protesters.

  • phis

Leslie, you suck as a human being. I am a SEAL, class 250…..Jesse is a SEAL, you’re an idiot and the reason this country has turned into what it has. You have no backbone, you have no brain, you have no ability to even critically think. You are the result of a lack of foundation and lack of moral compass and I hate having to defend you. Yap yap yap is all you do and you are a horrible person how just doesn’t get what America really is supposed to be.

  • charlie

The photo that This lady is talking about .Is not from the Movie Predator. The photo of Jesse he is much younger. Look for your self!

  • Casey

You Canadian-Minnesota folk are kooky and fun to watch. It’s like SouthPark, but for realzies!

  • Lefty Leftowitz

Do you have a single thought that you didn’t hear on Fox…?

  • Military Service Member

Jesse — don’t turn your back on the Flag when so many have died to ensure it was flying. The Flag does not represent our government, but it does represent our people … and for a military service member, wearing it on my shoulder right now, you would be turning your back on me and all of my peers!

  • Jesse knows exactly what he’s talking about. 1913 was the year America ceased being America, and instead a slave to the “central bank” the Federal Reserve. If we want our country back, it starts with ending the funding of those who wish to destroy the Constitution and sound money, and they get their funding from the Fed. Google “End The Fed”! And stand up for your rights!

  • John C. Cox

Jesse Ventura is a raving loon.

He is not “officially” a SEAL. He did indeed undergo some training that later morphed into the SEAL cirriculum but he, himself, never completed the full required course for the SEAL designation. Such designation is not “retroactive.”

Jesse Ventura is not now nor has he ever been a SEAL.

As far as his record in Vietnam, if he even served in that combat theatre, I don’t know.

I’ll tell you this Jesse, if you haven’t changed your citizenship and we are standing side by side when the National Anthem plays and you don’t stand up, you may fully expect me to put my fist (at least on the first punch) squarely in you face! You may, ineed, beat the everlovin’ bejebus out of me following that but you’ll know that there’s at least one US veteran who’s full to the neck of your incessant “conspiracy” crap.

  • j wells

Jesse is a raving loon, who probably doesn’t know what a fascist is, but what, I wonder, are his suggestions for keeping us safe at the airports? I’m certain he has none, just needed his name in the news.

  • Rudy

Listen to Yada Yahweh radio, and find truth.

  • Jim

I think all the blows to the head and the steroids taken during his wrestling career are finally coming home to roost. What a loon.

  • mark edward marchiafava

LOL, I haven’t stood for the national anthem in decades, Jesse is more than a little late for the party.

  • Bob

I’ve been stopped 100% of the time since metal detectors started being used in 1972 or so. This is because my body is loaded with shrapnel from the vietnam war.

I QUIT flying when the TSA in MPLS/ST. Paul stopped me to wand me and waved the 6 muslims ahead of me!!!!

I’m SICK of the pandering to those of islam!

  • Tammy M.

All of you idiots who are bragging about not standing for the National Anthem, or saying that it is a person’s “right” to make the choice, I hope that you are not making those comments while sitting in the comfort of your home here in America. If you are, then you should think long and hard about moving to another country, many of which share the same anti-american opinions as you jackasses. Why would you choose to stay in a country that you have absolutely no respect for?? I think I get it…….you want the freedom that you are offered here in the U.S. – one of which is freedom of speech, that you take advantage of by spewing your unamerican bullshit on forums like this. I say Good riddance Jesse……and take all of your idiot sympathizers with you. We only have room here in OUR country for those who show respect and stand for AMERICAN values……..ADIOS assholes.

  • Johann Hollar

I am proud to be a Minnesota man knowing that Ventura was the Governor. I never stand up for the American anthem anyway or sing American anthems anyway.

  • War Is Peace

Jesse Ventura is absolutely correct. America is now nothing but a myth. @Tammy, I’m so glad you posted your ridiculous comment 3 times. You clearly haven’t got a clue what’s happened to this country, and where we’re headed. Those of us who are resisting are the REAL Americans. Those who are going along with what’s happening are nothing but sheep. America ended on 9/11. If you haven’t done your research on that event, better get caught up FAST. Time to boycott commercial airlines…if you do HAVE to fly, DO NOT go through the X-ray machines, force them to search you manually, and if they assault you, file charges. If we don’t stop it now, we will soon lose everything.

  • Harold

The TSA stuck their hands down 6 million pants until they found a man that has a pair.

  • Connie Bennett

I Pledge Alliegence to the Flag of the United States of America. It meant something to me the first time I attended school (1st grade) and we learned to respect and Pledge to the Flag. It meant something when John F. Kennedy was killed, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luthur King, The Vietnam war, Dessert Storm, every 4th of July, Flag Day, During the Elections,Every time a Soilder goes down, or my Nephew has to go back to war zones, when my Brother left for parts unknown for the betterment of Our Country. I understand feelings of distrust, unpatriotic, and wanting to perfect change, but jumping ship in midstream is not the way to get it done. Mr. Ventura, don’t You realize going to Mexico would work great for the “Higher Ups” who run the cleanup of this countries whistle blower’s…I can see it now: Jerry Ventura Killed in attack by drug cartel rebels during a coo. Wrong place, wrong time. It happens every day. I know that You are upset, but don’t rag on the very things You have been fighting so hard to perserve. I still believe in America, The true America. If you be against us, who will be for us and with us?

  • Ken

The President now assassinates American citizens with no trial or even bringing charges against American citizens.

Face it people, YOU live in a police state.

So it’s no surprise that a true patriot like Jesse is slapped down by the courts.

You people need to understand that the Amerikan government is a government OF THE CRIMINALS, BY THE CRIMINALS, FOR THE CRIMINALS AND IS THE GREATEST CRIMINAL ENERPRISE THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN!

  • Jesse Ventura–a legend in his own mind. I wish he would go away. I don’t understand how he has remained in the public eye for this long. And I’ve not read comments like the ones in this column in a long time. —what a pack of loonies you people are .I hope they are not from Minnesotans

  • Armando

for all those pro american people bashing ventura for not standing during the national anthem as take it as an insult to those soilders who “protect” our “freedoms”…when the hell is the last time our soilders were in a war that was specifically about U.S. intrests! all the wars were are in are doing nothing to protect our freedoms in fact they are the biggest danger to our freedoms and if you cant see that, you sir are an ignorant individual who has no right to call themselves american. why dont you get educated instead of spewing your blind faith pro american crap…we stopped being america a long time ago…our founding fathers would be rolling in their graves if they saw how out of control we have let our government become

  • Teresa

Slewatha: Do your home work!!! Hurricane Katrina, + New Orleans,+ FEMA = FAILED!!!!!!!!…..And Jesse, I do hope you don’t give up the fight to stand up for what you know is right…We need more in this country to do that and we can’t afford for you to give up!!! Please reconsider!!

  • MarkD

Is this a personality piece or a news article? If its a personality piece then fine. But if its an attempt at news, check out both sides of the story. What did the judge’s order actually say? What ruling was made that Mr. Ventura has to appeal? Was the ruling made in secret by another court? Is it common for new complaints to have a first hearing in an appeals court?

  • Ace

Haha, too bad most people are educated in the public school system!!! They do not know the Principles of ’98. The 50 States and the people are the ultimate judges of the constitutionally of laws. Research what Madison and Jefferson did to counteract a federal overreach. We do not need federal judges to judge issues like Jesse’s. Study your U.S. history from unbiased sources.

  • Steve

    Government is the enemy.

  • mike hill

if you think ventura is a phony seal,i would LOVE to see you tell him to his face!!!. like most ignorant ,big mouthed repubicrats you engage your mouth before your brain!! the man is a common man and has served his country and his fellow americans in a most honorable way!! also he fought for his right to speak and question his gov. how about you dave ? GIVE EM HELL JESSE ,YOU GOT MY VOTE!!!

  • Ed

I hope you do run, Jesse. Kucinich won’t. Sanders won’t. Nader hasn’t said anything. We need a real independent on the ballot, and we need independents on the ballots all over the country. If that doesn’t happen, you can kiss your Constitution and democracy goodbye. It’s not a “right vs. left” thing. I had high hopes for President Obama, but he’s apparently one of THEM.

By the way, Ventura, writing about his time as governor of Minnesota, tells a story about the day he was interviewed by a room full of CIA people who wanted to know how he ran his campaign and how he managed to get elected. They didn’t see it coming, and they were apparently very concerned about it. If that doesn’t scare you….

  • don

    Ron Paul Jessy Ventura 2012

  • Dale

Jessie is kind of strange on some things, but on this issue he is absolutely correct. More strength to him. America needs more citizens to stand with him on this issue. It’s funny because people would say this is something you get when Bush was in power. Here America is with Mr. Hope and Change and look at this judge! Good luck to Jessie and here’s hoping more Americans take up the fight.

  • Live Man on the Land

This is making for a great debate! Perhaps all those professional politicians should take a few lessons from the commentators in this blog, and get back to doing what’s right for the overall good of the country (the people), instead of their own particular party! Or, would that be too much to ask, and interfere with the flow of funds into their own personal coffers?

Oh, regarding this blog, and all the mention of ‘United States’, does anyone truly know just what is the United States anymore?

  • Barberic

I agree with Jesse, I traveled in a dress in October and thought I was getting an ob-gyn examine. I even told the gal to send the report to my ob-gyn. If I were muslim it would have never happened. A daughter of a man who served three wars and this is what I get.

  • Ed

Jesse visited the Occupy Minneapolis protesters and gave an interview:

    However, it was not news.

    Jesse IS THE MAN!

  • Kevin S Van Horn

Jesse is right in refusing to stand for The Star-Spangled Banner. My only question is, what took him so long? I have refused to honor the U.S. flag ever since I saw it waving so proudly over the charred, smoking bodies of the Americans killed by the Feds at Waco in 1993.

  • kender

My question to Ventura is this…..why did you EVER stand for the anthem? Why the late hour epiphany?

It is not as if this “just happened”, this culmination of events has its roots in the past 20, 30 years. But only when it gets personal(wink, wink) THEN you get all huffy, and wanna take a stand, eh? Where were you when this was happening in (name a place)? Oh, yeah, then when it wasn’t up close and in your face, you were playing “gubnah”, not in the least bit worried about what lay down the road a ways. But now, now of course, you care. Coward. Did you just now figure out that you don’t like the anthem? Or did someone give you the idea that, hey wouldn’t it be great to show some muscle and be radical and not stand for the anthem?……..

  • Knine

Remember this: All Three Branches of our government, the Military, all Law Enforcement, all Heads of the States, all federal employees are required to take an Oath to support and defend the Constitution and not an individual leader, ruler, office, or entity to get into the Office or Position they want; and they Must Keep the Oath until they leave office To Be Able to STAY in that position.

That last sentence is the key one.

For those of you that do not realize what a Domestic Enemy of the USA is: Domestic enemies pursue legislation, programs against the powers of the Constitution; destroys and weakens the Rights of the people guaranteed by the Constitution; and create laws, amendments, etc that goes against the restraint on the 3 branches of our government by the Constitution.

Then you also need to realize that the Oath taken is TO support and defend the Constitution and NOT an individual leader, ruler, office, or entity.

Domestic Enemies are illegally holding the Office or Position they are currently occupying and “We the People…” can have them fired, held, charged, and prosecuted. We need to do this to save our country, our freedom, our Constitution.

We will need to replace the Domestic Enemies on the Supreme Court, but it will be their own fault they have to wait a bit longer for trial.

I would also like to see that they lose their citizenship after they serve their sentence and be kicked out of this country they tried to destroy since they do NOT deserve to be here (forever, no visits, nothing).

  • kay

JESSE, YOUR A DISGRACE TO THE UNIFORM!. Get pissed, get &^%#$%@$# mad at the courts, the gov. But to refuse to stand for the national anthem, to turn your back on the flag is traitorous to your brothers who have BLED and DIED for that flag. YOUR A BUM! AND ALWAYS HAVE BEEN!

  • RobCooperX

Again I’m very proud of one of my heros Jesse Ventura. The crimes of TSA and the airports are many and severe. The fact that the courts wouldn’t hold up for this US citizen (not to mention NAVY SeAL, Govenor) is appaling and simply put makes me very sad and angry with the state of my country. I love this country but more and more each time something like this happens I am ashamed of what it has become. I believe if the founding fathers would have been able to see the state of this country today they probably would have just returned to their home countries. How can they treat a man that has given so much to this country like a criminal? The Bin Ladin family gets more respect. It is one of my deepest wishes the Jesse would actually run for president (though they probably wouldnt let him win at any costs). Even if he was unable to get nothing done in the White House at least we can say that we have a politician with courage and honor. And that we had one last fight before we completely collapsed. Thank you Jesse for your military service, government service and the service you continue to provide by standing up for every american. (Twitter: RobCooperX)

Also, after viewing many of the comments on here, I would like to add a special ignore request for the comment by Leslie Davis. I went off on him before on a site for an earlier Jesse Ventura news story. Mr. Ventura has never bribed anyone and has never lied about being a Navy SeAL. And based on the fact that Leslie Davis was able to type his lying comment, I’m guessing he never took my earlier advice to go call Jesse a liar to his face.
