Warm and breezy Friday with a shower chance; bright and mild weekend

Minnesota enjoyed some great weather on Thanksgiving.

Our Friday will be breezy and warmer, with periods of rain over northern Minnesota.

Central and southern Minnesota will have a chance of scattered showers, especially Friday afternoon.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's High Resolution Rapid Refresh (HRRR) model shows the potential rain pattern Friday and Friday evening:

As temperatures drop Friday evening, some flakes could mix with the raindrops over far northeastern Minnesota.

Temperature trends

We finally hit 50 degrees in the Twin Cities Friday morning:

Our Friday highs will range from the 40s in northern Minnesota to the 50s in central Minnesota to some lower 60s in the far south.

The Twin Cities metro area is expected to reach at least the upper 50s, but a few spots in the metro could touch 60 if we get enough breaks in the afternoon cloud cover.

Our average high this time of year is only 36 degrees in the Twin Cities!

Saturday highs will range from the upper 20s in far northern Minnesota to the upper 40s in southwestern Minnesota.

Sunday highs will be in the 30s in northern Minnesota, with mostly 40s central and south:

A few spots in southwestern Minnesota could touch 50.

Monday will be another warm (for late November) day across much of Minnesota, with many spots in the 40s, and some 50s in the south:

Twin Cities highs are expected to be in the lower 50s Monday, followed by lower 40s Tuesday and Wednesday.

The 6 to 10 day outlook from the Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above normal temperatures in Minnesota for the period from November 29 through December 3:

Our lack of snow cover in southern and central Minnesota makes it easier to reach warmer than normal temps.
