Our inbound low-pressure system tracks from near Sioux Falls, S.D., through the Twin Cities Wednesday. The system sparks multiple waves of rain and thunder as it rolls through.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's North American Mesoscale Forecast System 3 km resolution model captures the notion of rounds of rain moving across Minnesota tomorrow. Wednesday morning rush hour looks wet in the Twin Cities.
Here's another take on rainfall totals. NOAA's NAM model cranks out widespread 1 inch-plus totals with locally 2 to 3 inches-plus possible from Sioux Falls through the Twin Cities and Duluth. No need to water anytime soon.
Vote for summer?
The upper air maps looks more like summer by this weekend. A bubble of warmer air lifts into Minnesota Saturday and Sunday.
That should be good enough to produce highs in the lower to mid 80s across southern Minnesota this weekend.
Hurricane Gert spins off Carolina coast
Hurricane Gert does not look like a threat to land across the eastern United States. But storm-generated swells will rake the beaches as Gert rolls northeast into the open Atlantic.
The tropics are heating up now. Looks the the active pattern evolving in the Atlantic.
